And I'm slightly sad about it. But... The ending was amazing!

Okay? Okay ;)

Nice beginning, you'll get it as soon as you read the book.
You know, I'd heard MAGIC praises for "The Fault in our Stars". I gave one myself after finishing it, but not for the plot itself -which is actually nice and heartbreaking at the same time- but for a character in particular. I'm not gonna say much, apart from that it's a cancer book. But not that kind of book -I guess-.
Anyway, you have to read it for Augustus Waters, he's one of a kind. What a way of thinking, of working through life. It's worth the sadness, believe me.

Here's a hint on the book we're gonna be talking about: "Kiss me underneath the mistletoe..."
 "The Lonely Hearts Club", by Elizabeth Eulberg, is said to have healed way too many broken hearts already ;)
A friend of mine gifted it to me, she told me it was her favourite book.
To tell you the truth, I'm not really into "romantic" paperbacks. I didn't really get her enthusiasm during the first chapters. But then I got to the second half of the book and I really was enthralled by dearest Ryan. (0.o That's a guy, guys)
Anyway... 
Penny Lane, daughter of Beatles' fanatics and also kinda a fanatic herself.
She has had her heart broken throughout summer. So she goes to school and creates this "Lonely Hearts Club" with her friends: "We won't date ANY guys during what's left of our high school experience!"
That, of course, will be practically impossible. But anyway, I'm not saying anymore because I'll be revealing what's left of the plot ;)
It's quite a simple book, but like life itself. Lots of drama, easy remedies.

Here we go!

English books, again! :)
Two days ago I finished this amazing -but really, really long-  book by Ken Follet: "Fall of Giants". I've read some others in between, it was really... Intense.
Beautifully written, I was constantly asking myself how on Earth he could have managed to document himself on the matter so greatly and write about it perfectly.
The First World War is a topic which not many people know about, as it has being tried to be forgotten for almost a century.
Ken Follet's "Fall of Giants" depicts the reality of the war for five different families from all around the world, combining their different interactions in the trenches, front, parliament, working areas... They all come from completely different backgrounds: English aristocracy, Russian royal family, Welsh and Russian working class and wealthy American commerce-owners.

I totally recommend the book. It might take you a while to read it but it's worth it.

It's been a while since I last posted in this section!
Dear God... A long while!

I'm so sorry to have kept you waiting, but I've got to tell you about the book that's being labelled as "sold out" all around the world... "Divergent"!
By Veronica Roth, this book has managed to put me back on track again.
I've spent quite a while without reading much... Probably because the classics I had are way too slow... They're classics, you know. Very valuable, but hard to read.
"Divergent" is just what I needed. A very dynamic, fast and enthralling lecture!
Inspired in the future, Chicago, Beatrice Prior is sixteen and faces the Ceremony Day: the day in which she'll have to choose her faction.
Her society divides its members among five different factions: Abnegation, for the selfless; Amity, for the peaceful; Candor, for the honest; Dauntless, for the brave; and Erudite, for the intelligent.
Every year the sixteen-year-olds take an aptitude test which shows them, thanks to a simulation, which faction they are best suited for.
They have a saying, "Faction before blood". You are born into one faction and, at sixteen, you can change to another. But that will -probably- be the end to the family you've known all along. And, certainly, to your actual life.
Beatrice has to face the fear of loosing her loved ones in favour of a change of faction (from Abnegation, in which she has grown up, to...? ;), but she'll also encounter the difficulty of Divergence. What on Earth is that? You'll soon find out. :D You MUST read the book!

Guys!!

Do you remember I told you about this book last year, around summer?
I abandoned it. I don't usually do that but it's been a really strange year... Anyway, I finished it two weeks ago more or less so I just wanted to tell you about it.

By William Golding, "Lord of the Flies" marked its era. It was a new way of explaining life and human evolution through art. William did, indeed. He managed to write a best-seller.

"The most influencial novel... since Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye." ---- Time

A plane crashes in an unknown island at the dawn of the next world war, in which crush the one and only adult travelling with a group of schoolboys is killed.
At first they are happy to be free and to handle things on their own but, as time goes on, terror begins its reign.
Ralph is chosen to be chief of the group of people and he decides that a fire must be lit constantly, for his father is a marine and he'll rescue them.

This novel tells the tale of some kids who discover how their system can collapse above them and how adventure isn't as in books (funny, ha? ;), for they need to fight their way through the darkness of the situation.

It's a really nice book, I recommend it to everyone with a sense of reality and knowledge. It makes you think about what really is important in life.

English Books: The Host

Hey, there!!
See, guys, I fell in love with the film based on "The Host" so I ran to buy the book. I'm not used to watching the film before reading the initial artistic element but... What can I say, this time it happened that way.
Anyway, I finished it ages ago and just wanted to talk to you about it.
"Melany Strider refuses to fade away" . An alien race has invaded the Earth and  are taking for hosts the bodies of almost every human on the surface.
But some still resist. Melany belonged to them until she got caught and was given a soul, named Wanderer, to occupy her body.
Wanderer is a soul who, as her name suggests, has travelled a lot. She's been to eight planets and spent a whole life cycle of her hosts in them.
The Seekers, souls in charge to find the resistance, hope that she's able to search Melany's mind to find answers to "Where's the base of the humans?" "What do they really expect to do?" "How many?"
The thing is that they don't count with the fact that Melany might still be there.
Some humans stay inside themselves and co-exist with the souls. Not many. But it's a possibility. And, of course, the strength of Melany helps her to survive.
Oh, and this special problem grows bigger every single day because... Melany and Wanderer kinda... connect. They get to be friends. And Melany's feelings for Jared, his boyfriend, get to be shared by Wanderer.
What will this feelings take them to? Will it be their salvation... or their destruction?

Find it out by reading the book, guys. It's totally awesome. I got all sentimental when it finished, couldn't believe that was it and no more was coming. :)

English books: THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS BOOK 3, City of Glass

Guys!!!
Finally writing a review on a book, I couldn't wait any longer.
Remember I told you I was supposedly reading "David Copperfield"? Well, it turns out I gave up on it 'til summer.
I've been reading this third tome on the "Mortal Instruments", do you recall it? This one's named "City of Glass".

Turning out that Valentine is both Clary's and Jace's father, that they are brothers, that everything is suddenly upside down, the Clave decides to fight back Valentine.
Clary fights by herself versus her own battles. Jace, her brother? "Can't be", she tells herself.
Simon, a Downworlder? A vampire? "Impossible".
Shadowhunters, in war between themselves? "Then everything must be fading".
Her mother in a coma because of an spell? "I need to get Ragnor Fell to help me".

And with that last battle, she'll make everything explode while crossing the "no-going-back" point.

How will everything turn out? Will she be able to solve all those problems around her?
Fortunately, after this one there's a FOURTH BOOK. :D

English books: The Catcher in the Rye

Guys (: So happy I'm finally telling you about this astonishing book untitled "The Catcher in the Rye", by Salinger. I'm sure you've heard about it some time in your life, as it's one of the most important books written in the last century.
It talks about this seventeen year-old guy named Holden, who's not very comfortable with people his age. He thinks everyone or mostly everyone is corny and "all that crap". :)
Holden is a special boy, he's got values of his own and likes to follow them. He's been thrown out from five different boarding schools and he's not worried about it. He's got Phoebe, his sister, the only person with whom he likes to talk.
Guess you might have noticed this is not how I usually write a post, using this "expressions" and all. I just wanted you to get to see how the book is written and all. Holden says this "and all" a lot. And all. :)

It's a very interesting book in the one Holden tells us about a week of his life, with nothing very special happening but... You know, his normal kind of week.

I loved it, although at first I didn't like Holden much. Nevertheless, believe me, you'll get to love him in the end.

English books: Shadow of the Sphinx

Guys! Two days ago I finished this novel named "Shadow of the Sphinx", on "The Judge of Egypt Trilogy", remember it? I already wrote about the first two parts named "Beneath the Pyramid" and "Secrets of the Desert", I hope you liked them. And here we are! Being this the last book on this collection I wanted you to know how everything ended. Or maybe the start of the ending, as I never tell you how a book really ends, do I? ;) Lets see... (Come on, Miriam! You can do this! Remember what you where about to say!...)
Oh! Got it, ;) Lets start with the review of the book:
Pazair finds himself surrounded by Egypt's problems. Being not a simple judge (which is not a simple job at all) but a tjaty, he's in-charge of taking care of Egypt and its people.
Pharaoh Ramses is having problems. The Testament of the God's is been stolen. The country is awaiting a crisis, faming times. People ask him to make a ritual of Regeneration. But he can't without the book and if he isn't able to carry it out he's going to have to lend his place as Pharaoh to Bel Tran, Egypt's most terrible conspirator. What's Pazair to do to stop Egypt from becoming a country without rules and where the law of the strongest reigns? The reign of Ma'at cannot be transformed into that. So he must fight. Quickly. With all his intelligence and instict, he must take care of Egypt as best as he cans. With Neferet's help, Suti's and Kem's, he must surpass Bel Tran's skills of corruption. Will he be able to? I think so but better find out by yourselves, shouldn't you? :)

Guys! Here we go again... Remember this saga I was so into before? Well, I STILL am. But I can't manage to find this third book anywhere!! It seems Amazon and those don't have it :( I'm gonna win this fight, I'm telling you! I'll get the third book soon enough to tell you about it in January (or at least I hope so).
Well, lets talk about it!
Clary Fray, the new New York's Shadowhunter finds herself surrounded by problems. The boy she likes turns up to be her new-found brother, their father is a murderer and their mother is in a coma. Surrounded by demons, a war seems to be starting between Clary's father and the Clave.
What can Clary do to stop this situation? And to take control of the feelings she has for that boy that's never ever going to be hers? And Simon... Will he be able to still be there for his friend?

Find out by reading the book. Not kidding, you MUST. ;)

English books: The Fellowship of the Ring

Guys! I've been wanting to tell you about this book for more than a month... Sorry for the delay. My parents don't know I'm writing this now so... I'm gonna be brief, okay?
As you all know Tolkien wrote a saga named "The Lord of the Rings". "The Hobbit", a book I've already told you about, is the one that comes before "The Fellowship of the Ring". Old Bilbo goes in an adventure with dwarves and gets a special ring as a property from Gollum, the ring which makes you disappear, no? He successes in his adventure and returns home with the ring. But the ring is evil and he cannot wear it, or he'll get transformed into an evil hobbit.
So in "The Fellowship of the Ring", Bilbo gives his ring to Frodo, his nephew, and leaves him, going in a trip with no "coming-back ticket". Frodo finds himself with a ring which he doesn't know to be evil and with no help, except for Gandalf's and his friends'.
Gandalf tells him about the need of destroying the ring, as it's the leader of a powerful army of rings which a very cruel man is trying to get control over with. If this evil man gets the Rings awful things will happen to the Shire and its surroundings so Frodo doesn't have a chance: he'll have to go and destroy the unwanted ring. He'll find dangers and troubles in the way but, what else can he do?
Find out of the start of his adventure by reading the book. Tolkien writes beautifully and this story is one you can't miss, I assure you. You'll be grateful to me if you read it, as you'll find yourself surrounded by magic, fear and adventure.

English books: The Hobbit

Hey there! What's up? You know, as I told you... :) I finished this book, "The Hobbit", a while ago (recently I've been reading "The Fellowship of the Ring"). Well, I first read it in Spanish, when I was a kid, back in 2009. Although then I didn't get it right, as I was more interested in Harry Potter (it was my first time reading those, you might understand). And well, I kind of read it but I thought about my wizard at the same time so it was not a very... enjoyable reading. But I read it again now!! And I loved it, amazing story, so well worked out... Can you even imagine, how hard is writing those kind of novels, so long, so... Oh, men. I'll tell you, REALLY difficult.
But... To the point. Amazing novel, written about more than 50 years ago, can you believe it? It still connects people to the story, no matter the age nor the time in the one we're leaving now.
J.R.R. Tolkien did an astonishing job and so I'm here to tell you about it but more of it, to recommend it to you.
In this novel Mr Bilbo Baggins, a nice hobbit who lives alone in his big hole for hobbits in Hobbiton, is suddenly surrounded by a wizard named Gandalf and dwarves. "What the heck is this?", he asks to himself.
Of course, hobbits are not used to adventures and the being of this kind of people surely means there's something going on behind them.
Mr Baggins is a hobbit, known to be of half-well-known family, as people on her mother's side, the Took side, love adventure (kind of a sin to hobbits).
This, in part, makes Gandalf choose him. Choose him for an adventure in the one Bilbo'll have to prove himself useful to the dwarves, they're going on a mission to take back what's theirs, gold stolen by a dragon. The journey is dark, dangerous, scary. What will it turn out to be?
Find out, I would really like you enjoying this book as much as I did.

English books: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

What's up, folks? I've been reading (as ever) and yesterday I managed to finish the very last book I had to read in English on the Harry Potter saga: "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets".

That's right, I've read the Harry Potter books in English and in Spanish, all of them (and several times, too...)

The thing's that a friend of my brother's was "sleeping-over" yesterday and I nearly died, they kept on talking up to three and a half in the morning!! I didn't kill them because I was too sleepy to get out of bed, ;).

Well, but in the end I finished the book, letting myself wander through Hogwarts' corridors and feeling afraid of the Chamber of Secrets' monster.

In this second book on the saga Harry returns to Hogwarts, with the advise of a house elf named Dobby, who tells him not to return to the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

"Bad things are going to happen this year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry", Dobby tells Harry.

In spite of it the young wizard manages to return to school, and, as the house elf said, attacks start to happen. The Chamber of Secrets has been opened!

What's up, folks?

Hey, while being on holidays in Madrid I finished reading the sequel to "Beneath the Pyramid" from "The Judge of Egypt Trilogy" and I LOVED it.

Really, how can't you enjoy discovering how Judge Pazair makes his way through lies, plots, and crimes? It's thrilling, and I'm going to do my best to transmit this amazing experience of literature to you.

As you well know, Pazair is a judge in Ancient Egypt. He truly believes in justice and so he's the best judge known in the country. Because of his merits and his young age, the leaders decide to take him from his little town to Memphis, where he's about to be more important.

When he starts to work he discovers a plot to take control of Pharaoh and so he starts trying to stop it. The conspirators discover it and send him to a prison because of a crime he hasn't committed.

Until now the first book.

In this second one Pazair manages to scape the prison but finds himself surrounded by dangerous people. In spite of this, he continues trying to get the crime discovered and at the same time cover up his friend Suti, discover Branir's murderer and the murderers of the five guards on the Sphinx.

What will happen? Will he... die while trying?

Read it, you won't be disappointed.

Hey, what's up folks?

I've been reading (as ever) this amazing book lately and I just wanted to tell you about it. Wow, I'm getting brief concerning presentations... I didn't mean to, sorry. -.-

Well, lets see... "THE MORTAL INSTRUMENTS BOOK ONE" City of Bones is a novel by Cassandra Clare, New York Times bestselling author.

Her books have received good praises and so my father bought the first one and I really did LOVE it, it was amazing.

This book talks about life in New York city, where Clary Fray lives. She's a fifteen year old girl, lives with her mum in an apartment and has a close relationship with his best friend Simon.

She is red haired, (pretty strange but remarkable for a character if you ask me) and not very sympathetic to people. And she loves to attend Pandemonium (a place where strange people meet and dance).

As the back cover reads: "Clary Fray is seeing things". One day in Pandemonium with her best friend she watches how four strange people go into a NON ADMITTANCE room.

They turned out to be a demon and shadow-hunters. But why is Clary able to see them? (And I mean to actually see them). Does she have something to do with them?

Find out, this book is magnificent.

English books: Death in the Air

Hey guys! Here again, waiting to tell you about this astonishing and thrilling book on Sherlock Holmes: his second case!!

I don't know whether  you remember or not but some months ago, (maybe one or two?) I wrote you about "The Boy Sherlock Holmes, His first case" "The Eye of the Crow".

Remember? It was a thrilling experience to read it, just as this one. I even couldn't sleep at night, thinking about all the murderers and burglars he was looking for.

In his first case he discovered the Whitechapel murderer and the police in London got all the merit. In this one, "Death in the Air", the same will happen, but with another case.

While Sherlock is in the Crystal Palace in London enjoying an acrobat performance a crime is taking place. Nobody knows about it but one person is about to discover. He is Monsier Mercure, the trapeze star. While he is acting he has full view of what the burglars are doing in another room next to the one for acts.

The gang taking out the robbery knows it so they're going to try and kill Monsier Mercure.

Sherlock is lucky enough for Monsier Mercure to fall right in front of him, so he can give him the first clue on this new case. Will Sherlock get to what happened? Will he gain the merit this time? Difficult, but just talking ;)

I leave you the image of the book, although it's not the edition I have but the same information on the book and the same picture. In my book there's no title, a fact the one I really do miss :(. So if you're about to buy it now you know how it looks like with everything on it's right place ;).

Actually, I've been quite obsessed with "The Hunger Games", I've already read them twice each one so in... Two months time? I was relieved to have my attention centered in something else (really, I was starting to have dreams with myself being a tribute. It was quite scary). :S

Lets see, I'm writing about it!

"Beneath the Pyramid" is a thrilling novel based on Ancient Egypt, a brilliant civilization the one evolved a lot in religion, culture and innovations.

Well, I'm telling you about the book, not about my knowledge on the Egyptians so... Lets get on it. ;)

In this book young Pazair is a judge who lives in Egypt, in an small town.

He's so intelligent and loves justice, one of the greatest judges you can find, especially taking in count how young he is.

One day, he is called to Memphis to investigate, as the back of the paperback says: "to investigate the mysterious deaths of five guards standing watch over the sphinx at Giza".

He travels there and solves lots of minor problems and, while it, he starts inquiring about this strange case.

His mentor, old Branir, helps him with his advices and presents him beautiful Neferet, a young woman doctor with the one Pazair falls in love immediately. What would you say? Will he discover the crime or get caught while trying? Will Neferet accept him? Will he even admit his love towards her?

Find out by reading the book! (I'm starting to think you might think me cruel because of not telling you anything about how every single book I read ends but, that's the deal! I recommend a book the one I've read and you find out by yourselves if it's worth it for you or not. :)

English books: The Chestnut King

Hello, guys! Yesterday I finished another book, the sequel to "Dandelion Fire" and the final book to the 100 Cupboards series. I enjoyed it a lot and so I'm going to talk you about it:

Henry recovered his sight, gaining the power of the dandelions. He discovered his new family through the cupboards and when they finally thought they've gained some peace, Henry's father and uncle left their home to go to search for an evil witch named Nimiane, the one wants to conquer their world behind the cupboards.

They also want to save Henry, as the witch is able to kill him while they share part of Nimiane's blood the one was poured down Henry's chin when they first fought.

Suddenly, fingerlings go for Henry's family and so does the Chestnut King, king of the faeries and those.

Henry will scape. What will he do? Will he go to ask for help to his father and uncle? Will he save his family? Will he save... himself?

I'm not telling you anything, discover it by reading the book!
