Eventhough, we still do

You write in order to change the world, knowing perfectly well that you probably can't, but also knowing that literature is indispensable to the world... The world changes according to the way people see it, and if you alter, even by a millimeter, the way...

People look at reality, then you can change it.

- James Baldwin

English Books: "Insurgent"

Hey there, guys! What's up?

I've been reading. Quite a lot, to tell you the truth :)

Okay, so here's my review on "Insurgent" by Veronica Roth.
This saga is pretty amazing, but I think I liked the first book best.
In this sequel, Tris and Tobias have to fly away from Erudite. They encounter the Factionless and also ally with the few Abnegation people who were left after Erudite's attack.
Tris has lost her family, except for Caleb.
They go searching for help to Amity, but will they give it to them?
In the meantime, will Tobias/Four be able to cope with his abusive father?
What's outside the fence... If it's so very important to keep it outside from Chicago?

And more importantly... Against whom is the war to be fought? The Factionless, Erudite, Abnegation, Dauntless, Amity, Candor, family or... yourself?

Nice book, you should read it :)

English books: "Divergent"

It's been a while since I last posted in this section!
Dear God... A long while!

I'm so sorry to have kept you waiting, but I've got to tell you about the book that's being labelled as "sold out" all around the world... "Divergent"!
By Veronica Roth, this book has managed to put me back on track again.
I've spent quite a while without reading much... Probably because the classics I had are way too slow... They're classics, you know. Very valuable, but hard to read.
"Divergent" is just what I needed. A very dynamic, fast and enthralling lecture!
Inspired in the future, Chicago, Beatrice Prior is sixteen and faces the Ceremony Day: the day in which she'll have to choose her faction.
Her society divides its members among five different factions: Abnegation, for the selfless; Amity, for the peaceful; Candor, for the honest; Dauntless, for the brave; and Erudite, for the intelligent.
Every year the sixteen-year-olds take an aptitude test which shows them, thanks to a simulation, which faction they are best suited for.
They have a saying, "Faction before blood". You are born into one faction and, at sixteen, you can change to another. But that will -probably- be the end to the family you've known all along. And, certainly, to your actual life.
Beatrice has to face the fear of loosing her loved ones in favour of a change of faction (from Abnegation, in which she has grown up, to...? ;), but she'll also encounter the difficulty of Divergence. What on Earth is that? You'll soon find out. :D You MUST read the book!

I leave you its data:

"Noah", a great film!

Amazing!
Some of us may have read the Bible, some of us may have not. But we all now the story of Noah.
You don't? Nah, I don't believe you. It can't be. You must -at least- have heard about it, about how God told Noah to build an ark to safe Earth's pure species from the apocalyptic flood that was to cleanse the world.
There you go, it has just popped into your mind! Hurray! :)
It may be blurry, still... No need to panic! Read carefully ;)
Darren Aronofsky's production, "Noah", depicts this beautiful story perfectly.
This classic story is infuriated to action by some magic elements which make it specially tasty for everyone, religious or not. There's also war, among tribes and families, and among the family members themselves.
"Shall I die alone?" asks himself Ham, one of Noah's son, when they are about to leave all humans to die in the newly created sea.
"Shall I be granted the privilege to live?" asks herself Ila, Shem's girlfriend (Shem is the oldest son of Noah) and Noah's adoptive daughter.
"Shall human race become extinct?" asks himself Noah, who struggles with this question all throughout the film.

Aronofsky has managed to balance the classic story with some new paint-strokes, resulting in an outstanding outcome, which makes it a nice treat for any free night. Nice film, great shoot, even greater actors and actresses. That's a ten for me!

I'm posting the trailer and poster, hope you guys like it!

"Les Misérables", a great film!

Guys!

In history class we've been watching this A-M-A-Z-I-N-G film, wanna guess? Ha, ha! ;)

"LES MISÉRABLES"!!!

I couldn't believe my luck when I heard about it, but it was true, indeed!
I've enjoyed it so much... As Marius says in a certain moment during the film "There are words that can't be spoken". That's one of the biggest truths I've ever heard. ;)

Anyway... Lets talk about it.

This film is based on Victor Hugo's novel "Les Misérables", written back then in 1862.
It tells the story of Jean Valjean, a men who escaped from prison and became mayor of a town in France. There he meets Fantine, a lady who has to become a prostitute to gain money to send to her daughter Cosette. When she's dying, Valjean promises that he'll take care of her daughter and so he does, though he has to live on the run to scape Javert's reach, a policemen.
The film is great, because it reflects the social and political situation of France after the French Revolution and how revolts started leading the country towards a democracy.

The film is a musical, and it's superb. Do not think twice if you get the opportunity to watch it.
I post the trailer and poster:

There you go... enjoy!
